Day-10 May 14, Monday 8:00 p.m.
Grand Rivers , Kentucky 150 total miles traveled today
We had 52 miles to travel leaving Hoppie's on the Mississippi River to reach the Ohio River. On the Mississippi we were averaging 18 mph actual speed. Once we went upstream on the Ohio our speed decreased to 11 mph. We were heading into the current. There were two choices to reach our destination. The shortest route was up the Tennessee River. Or go up the Ohio to the Cumberland River 20 miles further for the day. The problem with the Tennessee River is there was a several hour delay at the Lock at Barkley Lake. Barkley Lake is our Marina destination. So we chose the scenic Cumberland River. A good decision it was beautiful.
An old site on the Cumberland. The river had much cleaner water.
The Green Turtle Bay Marina our home for the night.
Doug, our navigational scout.
